South East museums' resounding success at Beautiful South awards
It was a fantastic night for South East museums at Tourism South East's Beautiful South Awards for Excellence last week.
The Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth, was awarded Gold in the 'Large Visitor Attraction of the Year' category (pictured, top). The short list for this category was dominated by South East museums and galleries, with the Silver shared between Turner Contemporary, Margate, Kent and Marwell Zoo, Winchester Hampshire (which has actively partnered with SEMDP through its involvement in LAINet) whilst Bronze went to Osborne, Isle of Wight.
Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum, Hampshire won 'Best Community Tourism Business' (pictured, bottom). Bursledon Brickworks also won Bronze in the 'Small Visitor Attraction of the Year' category.
The Lightbox, Woking, Surrey, won Silver in the 'Access for All Tourism Award' category.
The Beautiful South Awards are now in their 24th year and recognise businesses and destinations across the tourism industry for their exceptional levels of customer service and dedication to raising standards.
Warm congratulations to the fantastic teams of staff, trustees and volunteers behind these amazing successes and for putting the South East's museums firmly on the tourism map.
