Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

A People's Pier: Hastings

Hastings Pier Charity features as one of the case studies in this year’s Heritage Counts.

The creation of a ‘People’s Pier’, owned by local residents and businesses was central to the vision of the charity and led to the development of a community share scheme.

The scheme closed in Spring 2014 having raised over £550,000 and created 3,000 shareholders.

Not only has this bridged the funding gap but the scheme has generated working capital and most importantly has led to wide community engagement with the Pier.
