Association of Independent Museums (AIM) New Success Guides – first batch uploaded

As part of AIM’s Resilience programme, the first batch of new practical guidance papers has been uploaded onto AIM’s website. The Success Guides take the place of FOCUS papers, and include a mixture of updated and rewritten guides on familiar topics and newly written papers on subjects which have become vital to museums in more recent times. As always they focus on practical solutions, are written by leading specialists in their fields, and include a summary and top tips as well as comprehensive further information sections.

In the first batch are: 

  • Successful Fundraising at Museums by Helen Shone & Judy Niner of Development Partners; 
  • Successful Visitor Experience – Getting it Right by Victoria Wallace of Leeds Castle; Successfully Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers by Julia Hill and Bridget Yates; 
  • Successful Museum Cafés by Chris Brown of Turpin Smale Catering Consultants; Successful Retailing for Smaller Museums by John Prescott of Retail Matters, and Successfully Working Internationally by Jane Weeks (sponsored by ICOM and British Council).

New and rewritten Success Guides are continuing to be produced All are available to freely download from AIM’s website.

The guides are part of the Information strand of AIM’s Resilience programme, funded by Arts Council England (ACE) from its 2012/13 Renaissance Strategic Support Fund, aimed at enhancing and supporting museums’ organisational resilience and entrepreneurial effectiveness.
