Sustainability Project Sharing Day
28th March 2018, Kelmscott Manor, Lechlade, GL7 3HJ
Kelmscott Manor invites museums from around the area to come and find out more about their Arts Council England Resilience funded sustainability project and the Manor's plans, and to hear about what they have learnt.
In a time of political and economic uncertainty and an ever increasing demand on resources, Kelmscott Manor is looking for innovative ways to increase its profile and become more sustainable so that the Manor and its heritage will continue to attract visitors and be maintained for future generations. The day will feature talks about the project and also a talk by a professional fundraiser with a specialism in museums.
Lunch will be provided and a tour of the beautiful property will also be offered. The manor, famed for their cream teas, has been described as an 'utterly beautiful slice of heaven', and this is a day not to be missed!
Arts Council England Museum Resilience Fund Now Open!
Arts Council England is the development organisation for English regional museums. At a challenging time for funding in the sector, the focus of our approach for 2015-18 is on building a more resilient museums sector.
The Museum resilience fund addresses the priorities set out in their mission, Great art and culture for everyone, particularly linked to Goals 3 and 4 of their mission (see below): supporting a step change for the museums sector by enabling museums to become more sustainable and resilient businesses.
3. The arts, museums and libraries are resilient and environmentally sustainable
4. The leadership and workforce in the arts, museums and libraries are diverse and appropriately skilled
The fund will focus on any gaps (geographical or otherwise) or development opportunities across the sector, recognising that excellence and the potential for excellence can be found in museums of all sizes.
A budget of £10million is available for 2015/16, with indicative budgets for 2016/17 and 2017/18 remaining at that level.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Thursday, 6th November.
