Museum Trustee Day
Saturday 14th October 2017
An opportunity for trustees from Accredited museums in the South East of England to get together and explore challenges including the many external factors impacting on delivery, and how to keep a good overview on your organisation's health and performance.
This event is delivered in partnership with the Association of Independent Museums (AIM) Governance Hallmarks Programme. Find out more about trustee support available through AIM.
The day will be split into two parts:
Part 1: The Museum Sector in a Nutshell (11am - 12.30pm)
Led by Jaane Rowehl, one of the SEMDP Museum Development Officers, this is a perfect induction or refresher session for anyone still puzzled by the oddities and acronyms of the museum world. This session shines a light on the external factors that impact on your operations. All questions welcome!
Part 2: What Trustees Need to Know (1pm - 4.30pm)
Led by Adrian Babbidge, expert governance consultant and lecturer, this session aims to help trustees understand their duties and ensure that they are equipped with the appropriate knowledge to undertake them, including what questions they should be able to answer if they are to have a good overview of the museum’s performance and health.
How to register
Places are free of charge to all active trustees and CEOs of Accredited museums (or those working towards Accreditation) in the South East of England.
The two sessions are designed to be complementary and we encourage you to book for both. However, if you feel only one or the other is of interest to you, you can book each part individually. Please choose your ticket type when registering accordingly.
Refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided. Delegates are also welcome to visit the award-winning Mary Rose Museum as part of the day.
