Thursday 20 April, 13.30-18.00

SHARE Seminar: The Benefits of Borrowing

The SHARE seminar will launch TEG’s new Preparing to Borrow programme, in support of Arts Council England’s (ACE) Ready to Borrow scheme. It will present case studies exploring the benefits of borrowing objects and exhibitions from nationals and other large organisations, and will provide a platform for discussing solutions to the range of challenges facing potential borrowers. ACE, Durham University, National Museum Directors Council, Poole Museum, Science Museum Group, University of Nottingham Museum and the V&A will be represented on the panel of speakers. The event will close with ‘The 5 Minute Share’ - an opportunity for delegates to share information about upcoming tours, loan or partnership projects; to ask for input or find partners.

The seminar will be preceded by an optional tour of the Guildhall Art Gallery from 11.00-12.00, and followed by an evening drinks reception at the Barbican from 18.30-20.00. There will be an introduction to the Barbican’s latest exhibition The Japanese House and the opportunity for a complimentary visit to the show. Attendance at both events is free to delegates, but registration is essential; full details will follow booking.
