Behind the Scenes at the 21st Century Museum
Monday 18th January 2016
'Behind the Scenes at the 21st Century Museum' is a free online course offered by the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester in partnership with National Museums Liverpool and FutureLearn.
The course was so successful that it will be running again, starting on Monday 18th January 2016. As before, the course will last for six weeks and requires approximately two hours study per week.
Over the six weeks, the course will explore topics including audience development and engagement, the social role of the museums in today’s society, how museums can contribute to the health and wellbeing of communities and individuals and how museums engage with people’s emotions.
The course draws upon cutting edge case studies from Liverpool as well as world-class research from the School of Museum Studies.
If you are interested in museums or museum studies, this course gives a great introduction to the role of museums in the 21st Century as well as a taster of the sorts of issues and topics our students encounter when undertaking an MA or postgraduate diploma in Museum Studies.
Last time over 11,000 people from over 100 different countries signed up and between them posted around 40,000 individual comments, so it really is a great way to get involved in conversations with people from all over the world who have similar interests.
