Museum Retail Training Day (Hampshire Solent)

Commissioned by the 'Retail' Peer Development Group with funding from the Hampshire Solent Museum Development Programme - 11 additional places are offered to other Hampshire Solent museums.
A one-day course to help you to improve your museum shop and increase your retail income.
Morning: Merchandising and Display
- The way that merchandise is presented in your shop is one of the most important factors in determining whether it will achieve its true sales potential. This one-day course focuses on the basic principles of merchandising and display, the importance of getting a logical shop layout and the effective use of ticketing and point-of-sale material. It will give an understanding of how to create a shopping environment that will attract customers and convert browsers to buyers.
Afternoon: Buying and Product Development
- The range of products stocked in your shop should enhance and support the objectives and brand values of your site and organisation as well as meeting the needs and expectations of your visitors.
The course will be delivered by John Prescott from Retail Matters who practices what he preaches by working in a museum shop for one day every week where he experiences at first hand the problems that we all encounter when trying to increase our sales.
The Retail Peer Development Group has used its investment pot to commission museum retail expert John Prescott to run this event. There will be a charge of £12.00 per head to cover catering, to be payable on the day to the Mary Rose Museum.
